Pastor Tom Aversa
Senior Pastor

Pastor Tom was born and grew up on the East Coast in New York. Tom planned to work with his father in their family business but after his father was murdered in 1980, he moved to California. Tom was saved in 1985 during a VBS meeting for parents. After being saved Tom says his life was sold out to Christ Jesus. Tom served 7yrs on staff at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel starting in 1994 as an assisting pastor, directing Sky Valley Christian Conference Center. After graduating from Bible College, Tom was offered a teaching position on the Bible College Staff. Pastor Tom answered God’s call to minister at Valley Community Chapel in January of 2001. He hopes that God will allow him to serve as pastor here for the rest of his ministry years.Tom, is married to his beautiful wife Valerie, has two daughters Nicole and Ashley, son-in-law Derrick and grandson Caleb.

Pastor Jeff Huntington
Associate Pastor / Worship Pastor

Pastor Jeff started in full-time ministry in 1998 at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley as the worship pastor and as a school teacher in their high school. Jeff taught music, computers and Bible in the school and oversaw the music, technical, web and graphics departments of the ministry. On January 1, 2007, Jeff moved a few miles down to Valley Community Chapel to assist his brother-in-law, Pastor Tom Aversa, the lead pastor of VCC in the work of the ministry.

Pastor Jeff heads the music ministry with the assistance of his wife Denice, teaches, councils and handles the technical needs of the ministry at VCC.

 

 

 

 


Pastor Steve Caldwell
VCC Elder

Pastor Steve was born in New Jersey and migrated to California in 1988. He was saved as a teenager but admits that he took a wrong turn somewhere. In 1995, God in His faithfulness reached out and redirected Steve’s life. That year he moved to Yucca Valley, began serving at Valley Community Chapel, and has not looked back since. Steve completed a two year Moody Bible Course and is now the Men’s Ministry Pastor, a Bible study leader, and plays on the Worship team. Steve says, “I love my Church Family at VCC and serve in any capacity needed. I love those God has placed over me to mentor me and to help me grow strong in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God has blessed Steve with a beautiful, caring wife, a lovely daughter, and two grandchildren.

 

 

 


Dr. Trent Nicholson
Head Usher and Teacher

Dr. Trent and his family are from New Mexico where he also did his undergraduate studies at NMSU. He is the youngest of six children and was raised a Southern Baptist under the tutelage of his grandfather Darwin. Trent did his graduate work at USD and his doctoral work in Religious Studies with focuses in Christian Education and Theology at Trinity Theological Seminary. He came to VCC from his work through both in his radio ministry and his international missionary work. Over the last couple of years he has severed as head usher and a board member at VCC and has taught the congregation now numerous times as well as occasionally helping with counseling, prayer meetings, hospital visitations, and the like. Trent shared how he feels “doubly blessed by having both such a supportive, loving family (his wife Jacquie and infant son Isaiah) and so many honorable God-fearing men to study under.” He hopes to have a powerful and long-lasting effect on VCC. Pastor Tony Salto
Spanish Ministry Pastor and VCC Elder

Pastor Tony was born in Mexico City. At the age of 15, his father brought him to the U.S., where he was touched by the Lord Jesus and was saved. During his teenage years, Tony served the Lord as a youth leader and a Sunday school teacher at a Baptist church in Bell Gardens, CA. After graduating from high school, Tony was lead into the real estate sales industry, where he acquired a license and has been working as a real estate sales broker since then. Pastor Tony has been married for 18 years to his wife "Betty" and has been blessed with 2 daughters. In 2004, Tony and his family moved to Yucca Valley, where the Lord called him into ministry. Tony is now the pastor for the Spanish congregation here at VVC. He is currently enrolled at a Bible college, where he is studying towards his bachelor degree in ministry. He plans to continue his studies at Fuller Theological Seminary and is waiting on the Lord’s provision to go full time into ministry
